Vegan Ideas With Rice, Buckwheat And Quinoa That Save Time

6

I really love to boil equal parts of rice, buckwheat and quinoa and to have them ready. I put them in jars in the refrigerator. Before eating them, I put different things, so I have different meal.

Since I stopped adding salt to my food, I fell real taste of the food. I can eat just boiled rice without adding anything. The thing is not just “I can”, it’s delicious for me 🙂 I guess it’s because I also don’t eat white sugar. When you stop to eat salty and sweet food, the taste changes and gets stronger.

This is 400 g (raw weighted) combination of buckwheat, rice (and quinoa – I didn’t have quinoa, but usually I boil them all together). I separate the food to 4 equal portions, which wait to be flavored or to be eaten just like this. When I am very hungry I eat 1 portion, when I am not I eat 1/2 portion.

I usually eat 1/2 portion, if I am too late for my workout. I love to work out on an empty stomach, but not immediately after I wake up. In the morning I drink coffee and work for 2-3 hours. After that I shoot workouts. But if I stray in to the work longer, I eat 1/2 portion and wait at least 1-2 hours, so I can work out. If I eat something cooked in the ordinary way – I can’t work out after the meal, at least for 4-5-6 hours.

I want to clarify that I don’t eat this every day. Or sooner, I eat the prepared amount of food while I am done with all. I eat it on one of my daily meals for some days. After that, I prepare something else for some days. So, I cook only for dinner, for brunch I cook for 4-5-6 days 🙂 .

Also, even if I have prepared rice-buckwheat-quinoa, if I want to eat something else, I do it. I.E. I don’t make myself to eat something just because I have to or it has to be this way. I eat what I want, when I want and as much as I want. In this way, I don’t think about food, I am full and pleased. If I want to burn body fat, I will follow this principle, but I will eat less food.

Variant 1 – salty, “cooked”
I add to the boiled, cold rice-buckwheat-quinoa some tablespoons of sauce Arrabbiata, De cecco, 1-2 tablespoons chopped olive oils. I mix all together and eat. It takes me 30 seconds 🙂 and is sooo delicious.

I don’t like really cooked vegetables and this is the only sauce that doesn’t taste cooked. There is added little fat and sugar 🙁 . I take it from the local store.

Here, I added green beans.

Variant 2 – sweet
I shred an apple, add lemon juice, pinch of lemon peel, cinnamon and rice-buckwheat-quinoa.

It tastes like ashure 🙂 It’s also delicious with tahini, walnuts. With a banana also.

Variant 3 – salty, “raw”
I chop tomatoes, cucumbers, rucola and whatever green I have, I add rice-buckwheat-quinoa. Sometimes I add vinegar, sometimes I don’t. I have very delicious apple cider vinegar.

    Hi Rumi,
Did you notice a difference in your body and/or health when you stopped eating white sugar? I don’t eat much, but I’m considering cutting it out completely.

THANK YOU SO MUCH for your website and workouts!! I’m on day 22 and determined to lose the last 5 kilos of baby weight 🙂

        Hi Rumi,

I’m on day 30! I don’t notice any significant weight loss yet, but I think that I will soon because I’ve just started to really control portion sizes and limit my sugar. However, I feel much better – more energy – and my body has more shape. I can’t explain it, but I feel smaller. I don’t weigh myself, I just go by how my clothes fit.

I make a sort of a pie (I call it “lazy spinach pie”). I use 700 or 800 grams of frozen spinach, different kinds of flour like rye, buckwheat or millet flour, flax seed (or eggs), kefir or yogurt (you can use soy or rice milk) and I mix it in a big bowl. I like to add chopped olives as well. I don’t know how much of each ingredient I use, I don’t measure, but the dough needs to be not to liquid or thick. My husband likes it when I put some bacon on top, but this of course is optional 🙂 I bake it for about 40 min on 150 C. It takes us several days to eat it, it’s easy to make and delicious 🙂
I also love red lentils, it is super easy to make and it goes very well with buckwheat. I often eat raw buckwheat, I just let it soak over night or for a longer period. Boiled chickpeas are also very convenient for storing and taste great in all kinds of salad.

Thank you for the spinach recipe, I am impatiant to try it! I love chickpeas too, just boiled, or humus, or in salads.
