Cardio Workout Low Impact 20 Min

rumi cardio

Hi My Friends, this is a kind of workout I do in my rest from workout days πŸ™‚ I know it sounds odd, but I am so addicted to exercise that in my rest days I must stay active in some way. Usually I go for a long walk and shopping – I like to buy fruit and veggies from the open market and I walk and bring foods by myself (when you walk weighted this is called Farmers walk exercise). This may not be applicable to anybody because globalization is everywhere and you may not have access to walkable distance shops.

In Bulgaria mall culture came 5-6 years ago and many people like to go with a car and do weekly shopping. I prefer to buy my food daily and this is a kind of activity I like a lot πŸ™‚

Back to the workout – this is improvisation; I have no written exercises in advance. Warm up all joints before starting. Bellow the video read about the benefits from such low intensity cardio workouts.

Steady state cardio helps me when I have muscles sore. When we exercise there is metabolic garbage after (sorry about the poor explanation, but I don’t know the right English words, but I think you can get the idea anyway). If you increase blood circulation this helps the body to throw the garbage out. Increased blood circulation brings more oxygen to the body – this is vital and you may experience the benefits right after workout – you feel good and with more energy. Steady state cardio also increases aerobic capacity which means more oxygen even when you rest.

I like high intensity interval aerobics too – it develops stronger heart but you need steady state (low impact) cardio too. No one method is superior then other. They all have place in your physical activity.

Question of the day

Do you like low impact cardio or do you prefer HIIT (high intensity interval training), and why?

Rumi: I don’t like steady state too much cause it seems not so effective (which is not true, just seems), that’s why I do it in rest days. I like HIIT because I hate it while doing it LOL.

Supriya, I am happy you like ti πŸ™‚ Workout targetting saddlebags will target the muscles there, not the fat. Maybe you know this, but it is common miiconception that if you do exercises for a certain area you burn fat there. Actually you work out exercises in the area.

I did this the other day, thinking it would be a nice relaxing workout – boy, was I wrong! This kicked my butt! I think my body got too comfortable with HIIT, so this was really an eye-opener.
    Thanks, Rumi!

    hi rumi,
i just came across your site on youtube and i really like what you are doing. these are the kinds of workouts i do at home and i love to come across new exercises and workout formats to change things up.

to answer the question of the day – i am with you! i always follow my workouts with a 20 min jog with my dog but i think of it as a cool down as 20 min is not that long for steady state cardio. i feel the effects of a HIIT routine right after even though it is torture during. i also like the dynamic movement of a HIIT routine and using my whole body.

    thanks,
    kim

p.s. marysunny verdi, you might want to increase the amount of time or change up the exercises you are doing in your HIIT to make it more challenging. the whole goal of exercise and fitness is to feel challenged every time πŸ™‚

I prefer steady state cardio because I have bad joints, and HIIT really aggravates my already sensitive shoulders/ankles (lol) so this was the perfect cardio workout for me, especially since I left out many of the actual hops and just went on my toes. Love your videos etc =)

A question, if I do cardio will that help with love handles, or is there something else too?

Jesse, always do exercises according your body – low impact cardio is better for you! Food is the most important thing regarding body fat. Do strength and cardio exercises and change your food.
